Eugene Carlton Shadwell, second son of Harry and Belva (Poe) Shadwell was born on December 15, 1922.

Gene is survived and missed by:
Three Children, Richard Eugene, James Edward by his first wife Jean. A daughter, Dorothy Jo was born to Gene and Donna, his second wife. He also has 4 step children, Terry, Jackie, Nancy and Linda. Brothers Kenneth of Eldorado, Illinois, Darell of Effingham, Illinois; two sisters Josephine Glascock of Eldorado, Illinois, and Dorothy Wheatley of Salida, Colorado. Also surviving are grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.

Gene was a World War II veteran in the Army. He served in European Theater, going to England the day after D-Day and remained their until the end of the war. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

Gene passed away at Saint Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado on October 28, 1990. He was cremated, and his cremains are interred at the Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, Colorado in the Veterans section.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruthie May who died as an infant in January 1928, of pneumonia.

A memorial service was held for Gene in Florence, Colorado at Nazarene Church on November 1, 1990.

Gene was a well liked business man in Florence, Colorado.

His hobby was wood working, and he made many beautiful clocks, the most treasured are the grandfather clocks. Other clocks that were made and given to family and friends have a special place in all the homes.

I just want to tell you what a very special brother you were as well as Kenny and Darell. I love you all so very much and miss you. My grandfather clock you made and gave to me is sitting in my front room and still running, ever since 1969. I am so proud of it. Love you, Sis Dot
