ABBEVILLE - Julia E. "Tootsie" Alexander Purdy, 90, of Abbeville, died November 15, 2012 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Elberton GA, to the late Hugh H. and Lula Davis Alexander of Fortsonia GA. She was twice married: first to the late Horace Bunch and then to the late Mack Purdy. Mrs. Purdy retired from the Abbeville County Voter Registration with many years of service. She was involved with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as well as the Bouquet Garden Club. Mrs. Purdy was a member of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. She was an avid gardener; not just her thumb, but all of her fingers were green. She was inspired by nature; she enjoyed being outdoors, feeding birds and growing a wide variety of plants and flowers. Her legacy to her family includes these aspects of her life, which were so important to her. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby H.
