Graduated Hereford High School in 1996. Married Mary Daylyn Hefley, September 13, 1997. Graduated Amarillo College 1998. Father of Ryan and Maci Michael. Sergeant in U.S. Army. 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, Bastogne.

Was born in Hereford and graduated from Hereford High School before moving to Amarillo to attend Amarillo College and later practiced paramedicine for Northwest Texas Hospital before joining the Army after 9/11.

Was on a Wounded Veterans float in a Veteran's day parade in Midland Texas. He saved his wife, and later died at Midland Memorial Hospital.

OBITUARY:
CONVERSE — Sergeant Joshua C. Michael 34, of Converse died Thursday, November 15, 2012, in Midland. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in The Wedding Chapel, formerly San Jacinto United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 505 S. Tennessee Street. Full military honors will be by Fort Hood Honor Guard. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Sergeant Michael was born February 22, 1978 to Patrick and Sheryl Michael. He was born and raised in Hereford. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1996 and attended Amarillo College, where he met Daylyn Hefley. They were married September 13, 1997. Sergeant Michael worked for Family Photo, Northwest Texas Hospital and later Amarillo Medical Services. He was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. After September 11, 2001, he joined the Army. He and his wife moved to Fort Campbell, where he deployed from 2003 to 2004 to Iraq. He returned home and was then deployed to Iraq from 2005 to 2006. He received two Purple Hearts. His family moved in 2007 to Fort Sam Houston, where he was medically retired in 2010 due to combat war injuries. He became a realtor in San Antonio for Ultimate Real Estate. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mark Hefley. Survivors include his wife, Daylyn Michael; a son, Ryan Michael; a daughter, Maci Michael; his parents, Pat and Sheryl Michael of Converse; two sisters, Michelle Cardenas and husband John of Weslaco and Leslie Brooke and husband Justin of Vancouver, Washington; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Mary Hefley of Amarillo; a brother-in-law, Ron Hefley and wife Wendy of Wildorado; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Quilla and husband Pete of Perth Amboy, N.J., and Penni Hefley Gamblin of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Operation Comfort, 4900 Broadway St., Suite 100, San Antonio, TX 78209; or Show of Support, P.O. Box 11225, Midland, TX 79702.
