Mr. Flanagan died Wednesday morning at Lexington-Henderson County Hospital after an apparent heart attack.
He was a retail merchant in Lexington and was a member of the Juno Church of Christ.
Surviving is his widow Julia Marie Melton Flanagan, whom he married on April 2, 1936 on Cagle Bridge in Lexington.
Mr. Flanagan also leaves two sons, Don Flanagan of Chattanooga and Jerry Flanagan of Chicago; and a daughter Penny Flanagan of Lexington, TN. Also surviving are two brothers, L.V. Flanagan and J.B. Flanagan both of Lexington; a sister, Mrs. Nell Pope of Lexington, his father John B. Flanagan of Lexington and three grandchildren.
Mr. Flanagan was preceded in death by his mother, Jimmie Young Flanagan.
