Graveside services will be held Sun., Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at Earle's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Barbara Higgins officiating.
The eulogy will be done by James Spivey.
Lewis J. Lane was born December 13, 1920, in Ironton, Texas to Sam P. Lane and Lena Blackburn Lane. He had resided in the Jacksonville area all of his life. He had worked for the railroad for a number of years, had served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII as a gunner instructor, had served as a deputy sheriff under Sheriff Frank Brunt and as a longtime police officer with the City of Jacksonville.
He had also served as Pct. 3 Constable for 20 years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Jacksonville.
He went to be withi his Lord on November 14, 2012. Lewis is survived by his wife, Mary Agnes Ward Lane of Jacksonville, a son, Tommy Lane of Jacksonville, two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Hillencamp of Jacksonville and Sandra and Bill Sherman of Jacksonville, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Arrington, Jerry Halpain, James Spivey and Lacy House.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
