Born in Morris County, New Jersey, in April 1869, the son of Patrick Colligan and Annie McKenna Colligan. He came to Walkerville, Montana in 1889. He married Ellen ("Nellie') Lohman at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Butte, Montana on May 20, 1895. He was employed as a Teamster at the Mountain Con Mine for several years. He and Ellen did not have any children. He died of Tuberculosis at age 43 on April 5, 1913. His father Patrick Colligan died 10 days later. His widow remarried in 1916.
