She was born April 9, 1934, in Gratztown, a daughter of Robert F. and Harriet Elizabeth Sterner Campbell.
She was a member of Claysville Christian Church.
Mrs. McCracken was a waitress at the former Club 40, Washington, and a homemaker.
She was a member and past 2nd vice president and chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hunt-Kennedy American Legion Post 639, Claysville, where she also was a longtime member of the ladies drill team.
She was a babysitter for many local children.
Mrs. McCracken enjoyed reading, shopping, card club, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and raising her Boston terriers.
On April 9, 1975, in Cumberland, Md., she married John W. McCracken, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Clarence (Laura) Allshouse of Yuma, Ariz., and Joseph (Linda) Allshouse of Claysville; a daughter, Kimberly (Alan) Demski of Claysville; additional children, John "Jay" (Patti) McCracken of Washington, Sandy (Jesse) Lowther of Washington and Judy (Bob) Silvers of Prosperity; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several "honorary" grandchildren, whom she considered to be part of her family.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Michael H. Heinrich Funeral Home, 219 Main Street, Claysville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 19, with Pastor James Sevon Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Claysville Christian Church or American Legion Post 639, Claysville.
