Daughter of David Everett Wade, a prominent Cincinnati businessman, alderman, and Presbyterian church elder. [Ruth Wade Cox Brunings in her 1999 paper and presentation to Boone Co. Hist. Soc. KY on Slavery in Kentucky; Ruth is a 2nd great granddaughter of Sarah and the doctor]. Another descendant, Linda Gregg wrote to me in 2007 that "Her brother, Melancthon Smith Wade was a Brigadier General and one-time commander of Ft. Dennison early in the Civil War. Her father, David Everett Wade, was one of the incorporators of Cincinnati."

Back in 2007, my old emails show that I wrote to both Ruth and Linda, in part: "David E. Wade filed a will on 26 July 1842, and signed it 23 June 1838-- This will is on file at Univ of Cinti Rare Books and Archives-- I have only see the index listing, not the will itself...Sarah E Bedinger, the beneficiary listed...A Benjamin F Bedinger and several WADEs are executors:David Wade, Stephen J Wade,Nehemiah Wade, Malancthon Wade, Mary Oliver, Susan A.L. Guy". I notice there is supposed to be a 1955 article by Harry R Stevens on David Everett Wade (1763/1842), Bull. of Hist and Phil. Soc of Ohio, 13(1955) 181-90 (perhaps the former name of the Cinti Hist Soc publication...).There also seems to be an online Yale obit on Everett Wade Bedinger, giving Sarah's mother's name:"His mother was the daughter of David Everett Wade, who went from New Jersey to Fort Washington (now Cincinnati), Ohio, in 1788, and built one of the first houses erected outside of the fort, and Mary (Jones) Wade."[BULLETIN OF YALE UNIVERSITY OBITUARY RECORD OF YALE GRADUATES 1915-1920, SIXTEENTH SERIES • AUGUST, 1920 • NUMBER ELEVEN ] So her mother is/may be nee, Mary Jones.

Fortunately, a well written book published in 1900, on p321 tells us her date of birth, 23 Oct 1800 [The Wade Genealogy:Being Some Account of the Origin of the Name, and Genealogies of the Families of Wade of Massachusetts and New Jersey. [pt. 1-4] Comp. by Stuart Charles Wade (Google eBook)]

The death date is taken from my photo of her grave, but reconfirm this please.

Mar 2014- Bedinger Family Communication Received: Thankfully I heard from a descendant who kindly wrote:
"Mary Jones Wade was an orphan from New Jersey. I have yet to find any additional information on her, but that IS the only name she used. She was my 3 great grandmother.
