Evelyn was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Seymour to Andy and Myrtle Gough Bowie. One of four sisters, Evelyn enjoyed her childhood and early teen years in Seymour. At the age of 17, at the onset of World War II, Evelyn left her home in Seymour for Los Angeles, Calif. In Los Angeles she worked for the "war effort" in an ammunitions factory to manufacture ammunitions for U.S. soldiers in the war. At the end of World War II, she returned to Seymour where she was swept off her feet by a handsome young soldier by the name of AJ Dye, who had just returned from the war. They were married soon after and were blessed with three children. Sadly, AJ succumbed to illness from war injuries at Guadalcanal and passed away in 1953. After the death of AJ, Evelyn moved to Fort Worth. In Fort Worth, She attended Brantley Draughon Business College. Evelyn became the business office manager for several businesses. She continued her life in Fort Worth and eventually met and married Sydney Barnett "Cotton" Draper. Cotton preceded her in death in 1979. Evelyn will always be remembered for her special love for children. Rearing two young boys and a daughter alone was never an obstacle for her. She taught her boys to play sports and delighted in teaching her daughter to become a miracle in the kitchen. She was famous for her wonderful meals. The children's friends were known to be at her home at just the right time of day, knowing they were always welcome to share in her fantastic food. Along with her devoted love for children, Evelyn had a passion for animals, particularly dogs. Evelyn loved music of all kinds and imparted that love to her children. Throughout her life she enjoyed dancing. When Evelyn became a grandmother, her joy was immeasurable. She showered her grandchildren with love and dutifully spoiled them at every opportunity. Survivors: Daughter, Sharon, and husband, Billy Bubeck; sons, Lewis and wife, Beverly Dye, and AJ Jr. and wife, Carol Dye; grandchildren, Mason, Spencer and Collin Dye, Aden and wife, Traci Bubeck, Courtney and husband, Trampas Wilson, Justin and wife, Jenny Lackey, and Collin and wife, Courtney Lackey; great-grandchildren, Skylar and Marvel Bubeck, Tanner, Chase and Dax Wilson, and Cannon "Cannonball," Elise and Anna Lackey; sister, Joan Soho; and lifelong family friend, Barbara Cropp.
