Born in Quebec, the former Mary Hayes had lived in the Gaspe Peninsula area until 1925, when she moved to Niagara Falls. She moved to Grand Island in 1993.
She was employed by the Shredded Wheat and Carborundum companies before she married Alexander Affleck in 1931. She also worked as a sales clerk at several Niagara Falls retail stores.
Mrs. Aitken was an active member of Plymouth Brethren Church in Niagara Falls for many years. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Her first husband, Alexander Affleck, died in 1964. Her second husband, Daniel, died in 1981.
She is survived by a son, John Affleck of Vestal; two daughters, Elaine Hildebrandt and Joyce Sulgit of Burlingame, Calif; 11 grand-
children; 15 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Lundy's Lane Cemetery, Niagara Falls, Ont.
