Son of Levi Branch (b. US) and Mary Ann Bowen (b. US), per death certificate

Husband of Anna Hudson Branch

****
Branch, Sidney S., farmer of Golden twp., was born Feb. 20, 1842 in Medina County, Ohio, where he lived until nineteen years of age, when he enlisted in the Company K, 8th Ohio Inf., May 26, 1861, and served three years and two months. At Antietam our subject received a bullet that nearly ended his war career as well as his civil. He was struck full in the face and the bullet was taken out at the back of his neck; and again in the Wilderness he was shot in the heel, the two extremes you might say. Mr. Branch's war record is a grand one. He came to Golden in 1865 and located on the farm he now occupies, clearing it from the wild woods it was; has set it out to fruit, built a good modern farmhouse, and enjoys the comforts he has made. He was married in 1873 to Miss Annie M. Hudson and they have three children. Mr. Branch has held the town offices of school director, justice, and commissioner of schools two years. *this article was found on page 8 of the "1895 Oceana County Atlas"
