WOODSFIELD - Gladys N. Highman, 91, of Guilford Avenue died Wednesday (Jan. 15, 2003) in Marietta, Ga.
She was born Aug. 23, 1911, in Monroe County (Wayne Township) to Richard A. and Leona Daugherty Bates. She was a member of Woodsfield Church of Christ. She is survived by two sons, Hubert Highman of Canton and David Highman of Woodsfield; three daughters, Eva Jean Hartshorn of Graysville, Martha Howard of Woodsfield and Barbara Sherry of Marietta; four sisters, Jane Strickling, Eleanor Weber and Edith Brown, all of Woodsfield, and Mary Kelch of Sistersville, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Highman, in April 1997; two daughters, Phyllis and Lorna Highman; one infant son, Byron Highman; one grandson, John Michael Highman; four sisters, Grace Turner, Freda Bundy, Virginia Knowlton and Emma Nalley; and five brothers, Ernest, Reed, Harry, Guy and Heber Bates.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield. Burial is in Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
