CLINTON, Mich. — Merrill Dee Brown, age 69, of Clinton, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at home.

He was born on October 27, 1939, in Sabine, West Virginia, the son of Willie Dee and Ruby (Fleming) Brown.

He married Nerissa Strand on December 26, 1978, and she survives.

Merrill was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a machine operator for Ford Motor Company in Rawsonville for over 30 years until his retirement in 1998.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Merrill will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Merrill is survived by two step-sons, Gary McCarty of Adrian, Mich. and Tommy McCarty of Clinton; five step-daughters, Roxie (Bill) Osburn of Tecumseh, Mich., Jeane (Rod) Sears of Tecumseh, Vickie (Mark) Jedele of Clinton, Susan McCarty of Clinton and Nancy Spencer of Adrian; three brothers, Lawrence (Sherry) Brown of Oceana, W.Va., Clarence "Sonny" (Suk) Brown of Rockledge, Fla. and Lowell "Tom" (Sharon) Brown of Oceana; five nieces and one nephew.

Merrill was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Gerald "Boo" McCarty and one sister, Virginia Brown.

Cremation has taken place. No visitation or services are scheduled at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Michigan Heart Association.
