Arley Poteet, 79, of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the Morgantown Care & Rehab Center in Morgantown.

Mr. Poteet was born January 13, 1933, in Edmonson County to the late Easel E. Poteet and Mary Adaline Meredith Poteet. He was of the Baptist faith.

His first job was as a tour guide in the Great Onyx Cave at the Mammoth National Park. Arley loved to hunt, fish and ride horses. He made knives and loved old cars.

Mr. Poteet was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Arless Poteet, and three sisters: Inas Clark, Helen Brooks and Elva Poteet.

Arley Poteet is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dolores Houchin Poteet of Morgantown, a daughter, Wanda Kaye Gaskey, and her husband Billy Joe of Morgantown, several nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Diana Whalin Poteet of Brownsville.

Funeral services will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown, Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at 1 p.m. with Brother Raleigh Blancett officiating. Burial will follow in the Alexander Cemetery, Brownsville, Ky.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, as well as Wednesday from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m.
