Born September 18, 1912, in Manti, Utah the son of Andrew Peter and Annie Christiane Petersen Madsen.
Married Veneta Williams, January 21, 1933, she preceded him in death. Married Vivian Dodson on August 17, 1992. Later sealed to Veneta and Vivian in the Jordan River Temple.
Mart was a member of the Utah National Guard. He farmed in Millard, Juab and Emery Counties, and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He left farming and moved to Draper, Utah and continued working for U.P.R.R. and Marts Auto Salvage, which he and Veneta owned and operated with the help of their sons. Retired from U.P.R.R. in 1974. When her health failed, they sold their business and moved to Bluffdale where he became a full time care giver for his beloved companion and help mate, Veneta. He raised beautiful flowers, gardens and animals.
His favorite recreation was to get in the truck and camper and go to some great hunting or fishing spots, or just look at the beautiful country surrounding him. He loved the family to go along and enjoy the beauty and the bounty. His relaxation came in reading western novels by a warm fire. After Veneta's passing, he married Vivian. She gave him love and care for the remainder of his time on earth.
LaMar is survived by children, Dick Hamblin, Kanab: Marva Rae Stanger, Sandy: Dwayne (Lou) Madsen, Meridian, Idaho: Rodney (Beth) Madsen, Koosharem: Lewis (Jackie) Madsen, Greenwich: Dale (Bobby) Madsen, Lehi: Reid (LaVerne) Madsen, Bluffdale: Marla Kay (Steve) Webb, Lehi; 33 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Veneta; daughter, Barbara Hamblin; great grandson, Jeramy; six sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday July 7, 1997, 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 So. 1700 East, Sandy, where friends may call Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
