A Sergeant in the Mass. Nat'l. Guard,Company G,104th Inf.,26th(Yankee)Division,he saw service on the Mexican border in 1916 and was gassed during WWI in St. Mihiel, France, returning home from France aboard the Mount Vernon in 1919. Remaining in ill health until the end of his life from the gassing, he died in the government hospital in Rutland, VT. He received a citation from Maj. Gen. Clarence R. Edwards in 1919.
