The daughter of Louis August Ahrens and Clara Frances "Dolly" Mode, "Lottie" married Edward Brave on 10 Oct 1917 in Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois.
The next year, Lottie's oldest sibling, Christian, died during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918. He had been stationed at Camp Taylor in Kentucky while training for army duty during World War I. Both of her parents died in 1926.
Lottie was a member of the Wanda United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 204. She and Edward were the parents of 3 children.
She was a homemaker, and her husband operated a barber shop in Wood River, Illinois for many years.
Lottie suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in June of 1972. She died 2 days later at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. At the time of her death, she was 75 years, 1 month and 1 day old.
She was survived by 2 daughters, Thelma McCormick of Roxana and Lucille Paur of Edwardsville; 1 son, Vernon Brave of Morton, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Clara Hunt, Louise Woods and Dorothy Dike, all of Wanda, Illinois.
Visitation was held on 06 Jun 1972 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 1:30 p.m. the following afternoon. Lottie was buried next to her husband, Edward, who passed away in 1969.
