Peter was born in St Didace, Maskinonge,Quebec, Canada. He came to the US with his parents in 1880 at the age of 10. The family settled in the village of Harrisville in the town of Burrillville, Rhode Island.
On Nov 4, 1896 he married Mary Louise Clavin at St. Patrick's Church in Harrisville. The couple had four children: Esther, Mary Olive, Jane, who died in infancy, and Francis Joseph. By 1910 they lived in a duplex with Mary's parents and sister and brother-in-law on the other side. Mary died in 1918 and Peter never remarried.
