From member Dennis Brandt:

In 1860, he was a carpenter presumably living in McCall's Ferry, Lower Chanceford Township, York County, Pennsylvania, although he is not found in that census.  He stood 5' 7" tall and had dark hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Columbia, Lancaster County, August 22, 1861, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg sometime during the following October as a private with Co. K, 45th Pennsylvania Infantry.  He re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer January 1, 1864, at Blaines Crossroads, Virginia, but died in Harrisburg from a fever that caused delirium.
