William H. Nash of St. George Avenue, Woodbridge, formerly of Carteret, died Tuesday at 4:55 P.M. at the Perth Amboy General Hospital. He had been ill only a short time and underwent an operation Monday night. A knotted intestine was the immediate cause of death.

Mr. Nash was 36 years old last March. He was born in Carteret and the son of a former Councilman of the borough. He was widely know. At one time he was active in baseball circles and frequently aided in promoting sports events. Mr. Nash served in the A. E. F. and was a member of the American Legion.

Besides a widow, he is survived by one brother, Edward and three sisters, Mrs. Horace Armour, Mrs. Paul B. Harrington and Mrs. Hugh Carlton, all of Carteret.

The funeral services were held this morning from the late home thence to St. James Roman Catholic Church where a solemn high mass of requiem was offered for the repose of the soul. The funeral was very largely attended. The interment was in St. James Cemetery.

There were four open cars laden with beautiful floral tributes. More than 100 cars were in the funeral cortege.

The bearers were: Al J. Bonner, William V. Coughlin, Councilman Edward Dolan, John Donovan, Ewald Grohman and Thomas Burke, all members of Exempt members of Fire Company No. 2 of which Mr. Nash was a member until he became an exempt.

The flag at the firehouse is at half staff. Besides the bearers named there were several honorary bearers including Mayor Joseph A. Herman of Carteret, William A. Ryan, of Woodbridge and other prominent men.
