Mrs. Horace Patterson Dies After long Illness

Native of Burlington succumbs at Family Home--Funeral to Be Held Saturday.

Mrs. Carrie N. Patterson, wife of Horace Patterson, 1009 Summer street, died at the family home yesterday morning, following a illness extending over a period of more that a year.

She was born in Burlington 64 year ago. her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Acres, were early settlers here. She was married, Oct. 1, 189, and is survived by her husband and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Ann Bell of Deyton, O., and Mrs. Mary A. Holman and Thomas R. Acres of Pasadena, Calif.

Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Eastern Star, the Hawkeye Natives auxiliary and the Star of the East chapter of King's Daughters.

Funeral services will be held from the home, Saturday afternoon at 2:30. (ed.--end)



Caroline Newman Acres was the daughter of Stephen T. Acres and Sarah Newman, who immigrated to America from Gibraltar, Spain in 1853, and settled in Burlington, Iowa in 1854. Caroline was the youngest of their eight children and was born in Burlington. Married Horace E. Patterson, Oct. 1, 1890, Burlington, Des Moines Co., IA.
