Mrs. Tinker was a native of Yancey County, NC and had lived in Erwin for the past 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Turner and Jane Higgins and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Ralph Tinker of Denbigh, Virginia, Roy Tinker of Erwin, Eugene Tinker of Bluff City and Carroll Reece Tinker of Holly Hills, Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Charlie Street of Erwin and Mrs. Harold Cluse of Hampton, Virginia; one brother, Everett Higgins; four sisters, Mrs. Harvey Deaton and Mrs. Landon Bailey, both of Erwin, Mrs. Leonard Johnson of Elizabethton and Mrs. Clarence Ollis of Liverpool, Ohio. *Source- The Erwin Record, 15 May 1968, Wed · Page 12
