David Kliewer, age 83, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 26th at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. Rev. Barb Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5 - 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: DAVID KLIEWER

David J. Kliewer, the son of John H. and Kathrina (Ott) Kliewer, was born on the family farm in York County, Nebraska on August 18, 1929 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on November 21, 2012, at the age of 83.

David grew up in Hamilton County and attended school in Hamilton County.

David was united in marriage to Joyce Willcock on April 28, 1950, in Stockham, Nebraska. Following their marriage they moved to Sydney where he worked at the Army Box factory. They then moved to Hastings where he worked for the Navy Ammunition Depot and then back to Stockham where he worked for the Hamilton County Bridge Department. They moved to Aurora in April of 1963 where he worked for the creamery. In 1966 David went to work at New Holland in Grand Island until his retirement in 1989.

David was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. He enjoyed John Deere tractors, horse racing, camping and telling stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dave Kliewer, grandson, Travis Kliewer, granddaughter, Sheila Howell, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Kliewer of Aurora; 5 children, Douglas (Kathryn) Kliewer of Aurora, Sheryl (Vern) Newman of York, Deryl (Deb) Kliewer of Hampton, Sandra (Richard) Barngrover of Aurora and Shirley Howell of Aurora; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by daughter-in-law, Jean Kliewer of Kearney, brother-in-law Dwight Willcock of Stockham and sister-in-law, Agnes Kliewer of Aurora.
