He attended school in Charles Mix and Lyman Counties and high school at Ward Academy, after which he homesteaded near Consort, Alberta, Canada.
[On October 5, 1913, he was united in marriage with Ella Hermione Lueders in Winner, S.D. To this union a son, Virgil, was born. Ella Lueders Fulwider died in 1915 in Omaha, Nebraska.]
On February 9, 1917, he was united in marriage with Annis Luise O'Conner.
In 1919 they took over his parents' ranch where he continued in ranching and cattle and thoroughbred horses, racing throughout western Canada and the United States. In 1947 they moved to Gregory. He passed away April 1, 1955.
Ben was a lover of all sports and was manager of the Gregory baseball club in 1948, whose members were his honorary pallbearers.
He leaves to mourn his wife Annis; his parents, one son, Virgil, of Iona; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Neal Slaughter; besides numerous relatives and a host of friends.
