Born April 18, 1916, in Henpeck, Ill., the son of Albert and Elizabeth (nee Amon) Keller, he passed away Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Alderwood Healthcare Center in South Elgin.
Al married Virginia M. Herrmann on Nov. 19, 1938, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Hampshire. He operated a dairy farm in Burlington for 30 years and was also employed by the Kane County Highway Department for 15 years. Following retirement, he worked part time for the Hampshire Township Highway Department. Al was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, a 70-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a former member of the Kane County Farm Bureau and the Elgin Moose. He loved the outdoors, woodcutting and ¨putzing."
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Virginia; children, Albert "Skip" (Joan) Keller III of Boscobel, Wis., Marcia (David) Dieckman of Ladysmith, Wis., Karla (Roger) Thrun of Elgin, Roger (Donna) Keller of Crystal Lake and Donna (Mike) Block of Burlington; brother Charles (Mary) Keller of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Omar Dieckman; brothers John, Henry and Frank Keller; and sister, Bette Dwyer.
