FAIRMONT?- Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene L. "Bud" Wehrenberg, 90, of Fairmont, Minn., will be at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in Calvary Cemetery, with full military honors by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and the Martin County VFW Post 1222.

Bud passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Ecumen Nursing Home in North Branch, Minn..

Eugene Louis "Bud" Wehrenberg was born Oct. 14, 1922, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Louis Edward and Sarah Alice (Lockard) Wehrenberg. Bud attended school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1940.

Following his education, Bud enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corp on Dec. 2, 1942, and served his country during World War II. While in the service, Bud was stationed in San Diego and then went overseas, serving in New Zealand, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. On Jan. 16, 1946, he received his honorable discharge and returned home to Fairmont.

On March 8, 1943, Bud was united in marriage to Dorothy Adelia Bowman in Yuma, Ariz. Following Bud's service, the couple lived in Sleepy Eye, Minn., for one year and then returned to Fairmont where they were blessed with two sons, Lee and Gary. Bud worked as a carpenter and also for Railway Motors in Fairmont before working as a production supervisor for 3M's Fairmont plant. He retired in May 1982.

Bud was active in the Martin County VFW Post 1222, the wood-carving club, the conservation club and the 3M club. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on crafts, tending to his flowers, watching birds, antiques and being outdoors.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Dorothy Wehrenberg of North Branch, Minn.; son, Lee Wehrenberg and wife, Susan of Center City, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Heather Revell and husband, Troy; Jesse Wehrenberg; Jaclyn Otte and husband, Aaron; Matthew Wehrenberg and wife, Heather; Jamis Wehrenberg and wife, Courtney; Sarah Gabrielson and husband, Matt; nine great-grandchildren, Lance and Amanda Revell, Everett and Adelia Otte, Nathan and Molly Wehrenberg, Leyton, Keian and Isabel Wehrenberg; three great, great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Robert Bowman and wife, Joyce; and Richard Norman; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Sarah Wehrenberg; his son, Gary Wehrenberg; his sisters, Frances Jahn and Phyllis Abbas; his grandson, Joshua Wehrenberg; two sisters-in-law, Dolores Remus and Alice Norman; and three brothers-in-law, Pete Abbas, Roland Remus and Arnold Jahn.

Bud was well loved for all of his 90 years as a son, brother, husband of 69 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great, great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, 3M foreman, neighbor and friend to many.
