Clayton K. Burch, (Clay) a 27 year resident of Inchelium, WA passed away on Nov. 22, 2012 at his Inchelium home. He was born on February 14, 1946 in Tacoma, WA the son of Wilfred John and Sarah Ada (Walker) Burch.
Clayton was raised and attended school in the Eatonville and Puyallup, WA areas. Following high school, Clayton began work in the timber industry as a logger. A short time later, he started work in residential construction in the Everett, WA. Clayton worked construction for several years and then relocated to Coulee City, WA. While in Coulee City, he met Anita Louise Jones and they were wed on May 1, 1979 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Clayton and Anita made their home in Coulee City, where Clayton worked with his brother, Larry. In 1985, he and Anita moved their family to Inchelium, WA. He returned to the woods and soon found his niche in driving log trucks. He drove for nearly 25 years, most of that time for Seastrom Logging. In December of 2011, Clayton was diagnosed with lung cancer and began a courageous battle for his life. His increasing health needs required he retire and focus on his own wellness. He passed away at home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Clayton was a professional musician and played guitar. He sang for his own enjoyment and that of his family and friends. Clay enjoyed spending time outdoors, riding his motorcycle, he loved family gatherings by the campfire and landscape photography. Some of the most beautiful images were captured from the cab of his log truck. Clayton also enjoyed horseback riding and taking his dogs for their daily run with his four wheeler. Clayton is remembered for his easy going and accepting nature. He never missed an opportunity to express his love with hugs, handshakes and a heartfelt, "love ya". This softer side and tender heart were the attributes his family loved and will cherish while remembering the goodness and wonderful memories he created with them.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 34 years, Anita Burch, at the home; children, Elaina Swift and husband, Mark, Clarkston, WA, Laura Larson and husband, Kevin, Austin, TX, Aaron Burch and wife, Elise, Dallas, TX, Chris Salfen and wife, Elizabeth, Astoria, OR, Davine Price and husband, Keith, Bozeman, MT, Matt Rutherford and wife, Amy, Everett, WA, Clayton Burch Jr. and wife, Theresa, Kettle Falls, WA, Christopher Burch and wife, Ashley, Republic, WA, Amanda Carson and husband, Steve, Grand Coulee, WA; brother, Larry Burch and wife, Brenda, Inchelium, WA; sister, Ramona Ashdown, of Mesa, AZ, twenty-five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, WA. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Inchelium Community Center in Inchelium, WA. The graveside service will follow at the Hall Creek Cemetery, Inchelium, WA. Aaron Burch will officiate the services. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
