“Theodore B. Barnes was born in Mercer County on May 2, 1905. He attended Raymilton schools and Sandy Lake High School. In 1925 he went to Detroit, Michigan where he was employed for number of years. He then purchased a hardware store on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn and operated it until 1958 when he built a store in Ann Arbor. He owned and operated a large Ace Hardware Store there until his death. On October 14, 1933 he and Marie Sholdra were married in Detroit. Marie (Betty) was born April 15, 1909 in Winnipeg,(Manitoba), a daughter of John Sholdra. Ted was a member of the Methodist Church. He died September 9, 1972 and is buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ann Arbor.”
