Ruby was the third of four children born to Amos Turner Sr. and Mary Vivian Kivett. She married (1) Melvin Dermont Hill Sr. and they were the parents of five children: Melvin Dermont Jr., Sandra Louise, Jimmy Dale, David Keith, and Brenda Gail. She married (2) James Ray Goldman in 1972.

Ruby Louise Goldman, 80, of Texico died 6 a.m. March 18, 2006, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was a registered nurse and worked at Mt. Vernon Care Center for five years and Fireside House of Centralia for six years. In her earlier years of nursing, she had taken care of John Duke Wayne's mother and the Cisco Kid himself.

Mrs. Goldman was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Highpoint, N.C., to Amos Carroll Sr. and Mary Vivian (Kivitt) Carroll. She married James Ray Goldman June 20, 1972, in Mt. Vernon; he preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1994.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Don Verhines will officiate. Those attending the services are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.

Mrs. Goldman is survived by three sons, Melvin Dermont Hill Jr. of Hoffman, Jimmy Dale Hill of Texico and David Keith Hill of Texico; two daughters, Sandra Louise Royer of Hoffman and Brenda Gail Lowery of Mt. Vernon; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Amos Carroll Jr.; and a sister Dorothy Marlitt.

Mrs. Goldman was a resident of Texico since 1978. She was formerly of Mt. Vernon and Centralia. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Mt. Vernon.
