Gary Leon Goodwin Sr. (1895-1956), 60, of Hastings, died Sunday morning at 10 a.m. in a St. Augustine hospital. Mr. Godwin had been critically ill for several weeks. He was born in South Carolina.
His body will rest at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine until Tuesday when he will be brought to United Methodist Church in Hastings.
Services will be at 2:30 from the church, Rev. Richardson officiating. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; four daughters, Mrs. Powell Hardin, Mrs. Dan Johnson, Mrs. J. E. (Helen) Ausley, all of Hastings, Mrs. Ernestine Driggers of Charleston, S.C.; Gary Goodwin, Jr. of Lakeland, Fla. and 12 grandchildren. Burial will be in Palatka.
He is also survived by five sisters, Miss Senie Goodwin, Mrs. Ibbie Drummonds of St. Augustine, Mrs. Mary Hastings, Walterboro, S.C., Mrs. C. D. Godwin of Greenwood, S.C., Mrs. Ellen Lee of Bunnell; two brothers, L. B. Goodwin, Fort Pierce, C. L. Goodwin of Hastings. Palatka Daily News, Monday, 30 Jan 1956.
Funeral services were held at the Hastings Methodist Church today at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Robinson officiated. Interment was in Palatka. Serving as active pallbearers were: Bob Newsmen, Walter Horne, Bob Lovett, Edmund Maltby, Kennedy Bailey, Emmett Campbell, Honorary pallbearers were W. F. Wolf, Joe Flake, Dr. Hedick, Dr. De Veto, Dr. Lockwood, D. W. McElveen, A. J. Maltby, Sr., Amos Wyllis, H. l. Anderson, G. W. Lee, C. C. Mathews, A. L. Maltby, E. S. Miles, G. H.
