Jerome Harington enlisted as a hospital steward in the Fourth Michigan Volunteer Infantry on May 16,1861, for 3 years of service. He transferred to the First Michigan Volunteer Infantry on September 1, 1861, and was later discharged for disability on May 28,1862.
