John C. Staufenbiel
John C. Staufenbiel, 80, 2710 Dodge avenue, died Wednesday at a Sioux Falls veteran’s hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Staufenbiel was born December 22, 1874, at Bellville, Ill. He served in the Spanish-American war before moving to Sioux City in 1900.

He was a railroad employee for 43 years, retiring as a switchman. (Sioux City Journal, Sioux City, IA, September 23, 1954)

Carrollton - Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hessler, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Lloyd, Mr. and Mrs. Evor Lloyd and Lynn Lloyd of Coon Rapids; Oscar Lloyd and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lloyd and family of Glidden drove to Sioux City Monday and attended the funeral services for their uncle, John Stanfenbiel [Staufenbiel, who died at a hospital in Sioux Center, S.D.[Sioux City, IA] Mrs. Peter Gruber of Harvard, Neb., and Mrs. Gertrude Lloyd accompanied them home. Mrs. Gruber remained until Wednesday morning when she returned to her home by bus. Mrs. Lloyd had been in Sioux City since Friday where she had been staying with her sister, Mrs. Stanfenbiel.
