Jane, or Jennie as she was known in the family, was the daughter of Orville Thompson Fisk (or Fiske) and his wife Salome Heath Bickford. She was the twin sister of Julia Bickford Fisk, the mother of US Supreme Court justice William O Douglas. Jennie was born at Maine Twp, Ottertail County, Minnesota shortly after her parents returned to the United States from Canada. She married Rev L L Mann in about 1894 and had three known children with him, all born probably in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was a teacher before her marriage and they lived all over the United States, notably in Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, and South Dakota.
