She was born August 13, 1918 in rural Fairview to Clyde A. and Maud (Serenus) Heller Eshelman. She married Robert R. Burnside on November 21, 1942 in Louisville, Ky. He died July 26, 1944. She later married John S. Coleman on October 5, 1946. He died September 17, 1973.
She also was preceded in death by one son: Charles; one brother; and one step-great-grandson.
Surviving are one son: Guy (Allison) of Canton; two daughters: Marcia (Terry Adams) Burnside of Peoria and Diana (John Lanthier) Coleman of Concord, California; one brother: C. Rudolph Eshelman of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Bradley University in 1940 with a degree in art and literature. She also was a member of Delta Kappa sorority.
She had worked at Block & Kuhl's department store in Peoria in the furniture and design department and as a photography colorist.
She later worked at International Harvester Co. She also co-owned Coleman Family Dealership with her husband, John, until 1973.
She was a member of the PEO.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Canton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, where visitation will be two hours before. The Rev. Paul Park will officiate. Cremation will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Lutheran Home at Hillside Village or any other charity.
