Carroll "Governor" Winterson Hardesty,Sr., 81, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on November 23.
Carroll attended Anne Arundel County schools. Carroll was the co owner of C.W. Hardesty Custom Builders since 1973; building hundrens of homes throught Anne Arundel and Queen Anne's County's. He was a skilled carpenter and taught many apprentices in the carpentry trade, including his four sons and grandsons. Carroll enjoyed crabbing, boating, sporty cars and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Carroll never retired and considered working one of his hobbies.

Preceded in death by his parents;
Marvin Dixon in 1963, and Ella Dawson Hardesty in 1966, wife; Leona V. Dove Hardesty, whom died on November 5,1999, two siblings, Marvin Jack Hardesty in 2005, and Georgetta Monroe in 2009, and grandson, Mark Hardesty,JR.

Carroll is survied by his four sons, Carroll Hardesty,Jr. and his wife Cythia of Stevensville, Dale W. Hardesty of Edgewater, Mark Hardesty of Stevenville and Christopher L. Hardesty of Annapolis; two siblings, Joy Anne Rolen of Edgewater and Margaret"Pegi" Gale Turner of Chester; six grandchildren, Steven H., Greg D., Jennifer, Taylor and Belinda Hardesty; and nine great grand-children.

George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held 11:00am., Thurs., November 29. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
