Jesse Well Cannon, 84, of Timber Lane, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late A.B. and Daisey Moore Cannon. He was a retired self-employed residential building contractor and avid rose gardener. As an active member of Leawood Baptist Church, he coached youth baseball, was a member of the B.F. Rogers Sunday School Class, and a former R.A. Leader. During World War II, he served his country by helping to build bunkers at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.

A loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alline Olson Cannon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, M. Douglas and Patsy Cannon of Greenville, and Anthony Wayne Cannon of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Alger L. Cannon of Taylors; five grandchildren, Jay Cannon, Tim Cannon, Rhonda Cannon, Cheryl C. Miller, and Brett Powell; and five great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a daughter, Alice Faye Cannon Powell; a son, Jesse Ronald Cannon; a granddaughter, Teresa Powell; five brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Leawood Baptist Church, 401 State Park Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
