He was born to the parents of William Leazenby & Ary Ann Toothman Alkire, one of 12 children. When he signed up for the draft, he put his year of birth as 1873 and he signed his name as Lenard Alonzo Alkire, death certificate says he was born in 1874. He married Hildred I Merritt 23 Apr 1919 Jackson County, MO. They had 2 sons, Ivan & Lenard Calvin. He died of hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
