William H. (Harry) Houk, 66, died suddenly Thursday at Ball Hospital where he had been taken after he became ill while working at Acme-Lees. He resided at 211 W. Berkley Ave.
Mr. Houk was a native of Winchester and he came to Muncie 45 years ago. He had worked at Acme-Lees 12 years and was a member of the Friends Memorial Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Local 459, CIO.
Survivors include his wife, Allie; two sons, William A. of Ft. Wayne, and John C. of Chula Vista, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Sara E. Kappler, Anderson, Mrs. Marjorie Barr, Union City, and Judy Houk, Muncie; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Houk of Winchester; three brothers, George of Saratoga, Everett of San Leandro, Calif., and David of Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Baird, Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Nellie Baird, Winchester, and Mrs. May Wickersham, Richmond.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Parson Mortuary by the Rev. Robert Jones. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4 p.m. Friday.
