He was a native of Irvington, Ga., moving to Palatka from Rochelle, Ga., 35 years ago. He was a former member of the house of representatives of the 16th senatorial district of Georgia; Mayor of Rochelle, Georgia; and a member of the Rochelle Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. J. W. Callaway, Greenville, S.C.; three brothers, James L. King, Jacksonville, Joe H. King, Houston, Texas, and H. I. King, Washington, D.C.; four nieces, Mrs. C. Herrington, Palatka, Mrs. J. H. Duprè, of Starke, Mrs. C. C. Smoak, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Willie Hall, of Orlando.
Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the Witt Funeral Home, with Dr. Davis C. Woolley, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating.
