Gustave A. (Gus) Charles, 68, died in his Lafayette Rt. 10 residence at 2:30 PM Sunday, Dec. 22, 1957, following an illness of six months. Born at New Albany, he came to the Lafayette area from Matthews in 1937 to become manager of Klondike Canneries. He resigned from that position in 1952. He was married in 1922 to Monna D. Hall. He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and Matthews F&AM No. 650. He was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Belinda Hinckley of Rt. 10; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Kelley of Indiana, PA, and Mrs. Mary Martini of Gaston; a brother, Adolph Charles of Muncie; and two grandchildren. Service Dec. 26, Rogers-Myers Funeral Home, Rev. Ronald R. Hamilton officiating; burial Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
