He received $300 bounty for enlistment. He was 6' tall, dark complexion, hazel eyes, black hair, a farmer, born in Carroll Co, TN on 3/9/1840 to John and Sarah Allen. He does not appear to have been captured at Union City. He applied for an invalid pension in 1891 while living in Utah. His widow, Mary J Allen, received pension, also in Utah. He died on 9/9/1897 and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah.
