. Oquawka Man Drops Dead
. Oquawka—James Morris 85. dropped dead Monday at 10:30 a. m. while shoveling snow at his home here. He had been ill for a number of years with heart trouble.
. He was found by his wife, who summoned help and a doctor, who pronounced him dead on his arrival.
. Morris was the son of Andrew L. and Lucinda Noyes Morris and was born on a farm north of Oquawka on June 28, 1861. When he was 8 years old he went to Kansas with his parents, making the trip in a covered wagon. He remained there until he was 20 years of age when he returned to Oquawka, where he made his home following his marriage to Malinda Hess on June 18, 1872. He followed different vocations but the latter years when he was able to work, he was employed as a carpenter with his brother-in-law, S. S. Essex, in Oquawka.
. Surviving are his wife: 3 sons. James E., of Moline: Joseph V., of Muscatine: and Noyes of Garvey. Cal. One son, Robert Morris, died in 1912. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Johnson, who lives in Kansas: 3 grand-children and 3 great-grandchildren.
. The body was taken to the Lugg funeral home in Monmouth where arrangements are pending.
