Thomas Jefferson Knight, age 64, well known local realtor, passed away Tuesday night at his home here, following an extended period of declining health.
The deceased was a native of Hamilton County, Florida, and had been a resident of Palatka for the past 38 years. He was engaged for many years in the real estate and insurance business, and was an extensive property owner. He was a member of the Putnam County Selective Service Board. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bernice B. Knight, and two daughters, Misses Lucia and Rebecca Knight, of this city; four half-sisters, Mrs. Zellia Stephens of Jennings, Fla., Mrs. Bertie Sowelki and Mrs. Zonia Watson, of Orlanda, and Mrs. Delia Simms of Pavo, Ga., a brother, Philip T. Knight, of Whitehouse, and a half-brother, Cleveland Connell of Pavo, Ga.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Davis Chapel, with Rev. W. J. Churchwell, of St. James Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill East Cemetery. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 16 Oct 1942.)
