Officer Thomas Klefisch, DSN 2385, was hired as a part time civilian radio clerk for the Communications Division of the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department on 11/18/1985. He served in this capacity until he was hired full time as a Communications Specialist II on 04/13/1987. He was eventually hired as a Police Officer and served in the following District(s) and Specialized Divisions through out his career. There are the 5Th, 3Rd, 4Th, 5Th, Crimes Against Property, 4Th, 7Th, Auto Theft Unit, and finally the 7Th District.

During his career he was awarded 3 Department Awards of Excellence on 03/01/1995, 04/28/1998, and 03/05/2001, Officer of the Month on 01/11/1989 and 12/01/2001, and Officer of the Year Award 01/01/1998 for best overall Officer in District 7.

Officer Thomas Klefisch served a total of 18.86 years of dedicated and distinguished service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Thomas was the son of Detective Norman Klefisch who was also a Saint Louis Police Officer. His father died of a heart attack after completing a physical fitness test at the F.B.I National Academy in Quantico Virginia where he was in training. Tommy left behind his wife Janet, an adopted daughter Ashley, his son Aaron and siblings; Anna Donaldson SLMPD Civilian, Fred Klefisch SLMPD Civilian, Katherine Groaning, former SLMPD Civilian, and Jimmy Klefisch a SLMPD Police Officer.
