BANTAM - Irving William "Bill" Bachmann, 81, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He the husband of 51 years to Elaine May (Brown) Bachmann.

Born on March 15, 1930, in Torrington, he was the son of the late Charles Irving and Sarah Mae (Trammer) Bachmann. A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, Bill was a Tool Crib Manager at PTC Aerospace for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He had his own band "Irv Williams and the Town and Country Boys" from 1957 – 1969, then was in the band "Charlie Curtis and the Country Neighbor's" from 1970 to 1980's, and most recently in "Country Spice" as a bass player. Bill was also a longtime active member of the United Methodist Church of Litchfield, where he was a member of the choir. Besides his family, he loved country music, everything "Disney" and his cats, Sissy and Bibsy. He was also an avid cartoonist.

In addition to his wife, Elaine, he is survived by a daughter, Heather L. Bachmann-Baez; a grandson, Michael E. Bachmann-Baez; a daughter-in-law, Angela Baez, all of Springfield, Mass.; a brother, Richard Allen Bachmann of New York; a brother-in-law, Dennis Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, D'Maris Bennett.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to his church family at United Methodist Church of Litchfield and the loving care he received from Lori, Michelle and Rena of Charter Oak Services, VNA Northwest nurse, Kim and dear friends, Kathy Koprowski and Pauline Hallock.

There will be a celebration of life held at United Methodist Church of Litchfield at a date and time to be announced. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Methodist Church of Litchfield, P.O. Box 65, Litchfield, CT 06759.
