Slab Fork Miner Killed by Slate: Aubrey Lee Turner Dies While at Work; Rites on Wednesday

Aubrey Lee Turner, 49 years old, of Slab Fork, was killed in the mine there yesterday afternoon at one o'clock. Death was caused by falling slate. Turner was loading coal at the time.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruby Turner, of Slab Fork, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cain Turner, of Pulaski; brothers, W.R. Turner of Helen, Bud Turner of Thorpe, Tilden Turner of Pulaski, VA, and Charles Turner of Pulaski; sisters, Mrs. Susie Shouse, Dublin, VA, Mrs. Alberta Wheeling, Dublin, VA, Mrs. Emma Mitchell, Pulaski; Mrs. Maude Spraker, Pulaski, Mrs. Sis Lawson, Stuart, VA, and Mrs. Sallie Crews, Meadows of Dan, VA, and two children, Mrs. Dovey Rakes of Slab Fork, and Mrs. Virgie Lawson of Draper, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Cochran and the Rev. Charles Rakes at Vesta, VA., Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in the Vesta, Va., cemetery.
