Found in The State 16 September 1927: Funeral services for James B. Adams, resident of Columbia, who died Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist hospital, were held at 11 o'clock yesterday morning at the late residence at Altee and Maple streets, conducted by the Rev. Andrew Hartley, pastor of Broadway Baptist church. Highly regarded and widely known, his death has caused much sorrow. Interment was in Olympia cemetery.
Birth information comes from his WWI Draft and WWI Civilian Draft Registration Cards. His WWI card lists his nearest relative as Robert Adams of Townville, S.C.
Note: a check of the Columbia City Directory for 1926 or 1927 did not produce a James B. Adams on the streets listed above. There is one for another street and this may or may not be him. I am trying to find out who his wife was. If you have definitive information, please email me.
