Lucy was married to Gen. Parley Davis on March 26, 1791 in Rochester, Mass. (Massachusetts, Marriages, 1633-1850) She dies just 8 months later. During childbirth? Gen. Parley goes on to marry Rebecca Peabody and they live their lives in Montpelier, Vermont, along with the rest of this West family.
I feel bad for Lucy. She marries a good man, who becomes a great man, and she is hardly mentioned in any of his biographies. Now if you add the fact that she probably died giving birth to his/their/her child, it makes the none mention a virtual slap in the face. I'm just saying. Lucy West Davis deserves more respect and more appreciation for her short life.
