John was a paper gilder and paper box maker by trade, and married Marie Crone with whom he had five children. He lived in New York City for a few years before moving north to Northampton, MA and then to Springfield.
Death of John Freisem
John Freisem, 77, died at his home, 29 Coleman street, yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks. He was born in Germany and came to this country 56 years ago. For the past 32 years he had been a resident of Springfield. He was an expert gilder and leather worker, and was for a number of years in the employ of Col. A. H. Goetting. He was a member of the Harugari society. He leaves, besides his widow, one son, A. C. Freisem, of Reading, Pa.; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Huffield of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. E. S. Graham of Canton, O., and Mrs. C. B. Barrus of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret McKinley and Mrs. Kate Fisher of New York city, and Mrs. Antoinette Webber of Newark, N.J. The funeral will be held in Roadstrand's chapel on Howard street tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. Seelye Brant will officiate.
