Johnny Ray Carter, 49, 501 W. 30th St., Marion, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in his home.
Born in Big Stone Gap, Virgnia, Mr. Carter spent the last nine years in Marion. He worked as a press operator at General Tire and Rubber Company in Marion and was a member of the United Rubber Workers 66 in Marion. Mr. Carter served in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife Gertha, Marion; three sons, Billy R, John R, and Steven C., all of Marion; four step-sons, Robert Eugene Workman, New York, Charles D. Workman, serving in Germany, Tommy Workman, Wisc. and Roger Workman, West Virginia; one daughter, Mrs. Darrell S. Brodet, Marion; three brothers, Robert Carter, Kentucky, Holly Carter, California, and Jack Carter, Ohio; one half-brother, Bill Carter, Virginia; three sisters, Minnie Carter, California, Mrs. E.A. Thelma Delaney, Fla., and Mrs. Sylvester Florence Miller, Ohio; two grandcchildren and 12 step-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Raven Chapel with the Rev. William L. Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Memorial park.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Raven Funeral Home, Kem Rd. and Wabash Ave.
